Vita Caputo
knows where her roots are, but being a good Italian girl isn't doing
much to get her where she wants to be. Then one day she meets a nice
Irish cop, Tom McGlory. Before either can stop the feelings, a chain
of events threatens to ruin it all.
Tom's cousin is
murdered and all evidence leads to Vita's father and brother. But in
New York just before the turn of the century, things aren't always
what they appear to be. Vita and Tom find a way to be together, save
her family, and bring two cultures that hate each other together
under one roof.
Vita is the lead
character in a cast of eccentrics, politicians, and real people
fighting real challenges. Tom is no typical leatherhead. He is the
best kind of hero, sensitive, sexy, and loyal. Along with their
families, these two offer a dazzling look into a muted world in a
troubled time. Excellent portrayals bring them to life on the pages.
This is my first book
by Diana Rubino, but it won't be my last. Her style is natural. One
word flows into the next, her transitions so smooth you wouldn't
know you weren't living it. Her unique voice and exquisite attention
to detail make I LOVE YOU BECAUSE a stunning book.
I LOVE YOU BECAUSE by
Diana Rubino is all that and then some. Everything about this book
is what writing should be--original and wonderfully executed.

WHAT READERS SAY:
I read the last 20 pages with a big smile on my face. I marked a bunch of things I like especially…Tom’s whole relationship with his dead cousin,
the scene with his father, the church scenes, and her relationship to her brother.
It was lovely to read on this weekend which marks my own publication.

This is a sweet
romance with a compelling thriller aspect which I really enjoyed. I
loved the characters, and the situations they find themselves in.
There is real deep conflict in terms of the clash of cultures, and
Vita's brother and father caught up in a crime they did not commit.
Tom is a hero who is pure gold--I wish there were more like him in
romance novels. More like this one, please! --from the Barnes &
Noble website, a reader in Houston, TX
It's about time the
romance genre found a unique setting for romance, and Diana Rubino
has done it. Vita Caputo and Tom McGlory are two young immigrants in
1890s New York. Vita's Italian background and poverty impel her to
improve her lot in life. But her progress and budding romance with
Tom are jeopardized, when her father and brother are accused of
killing Tom's cousin Mike. Together, the young lovers set out to
solve the mystery surrounding Mike's murder and in the process run
straight into the corruption prevalent during turn-of-the-century
New York. This is my first but not last Diana Rubino book. I found
myself trying to rush to find out what happens and yet forcing
myself to slow down to savor the details. I loved this book. Well
done, Diana! --Virginia Kass
"The title is so
'unavoidable.' I started reading it and I can't put it down. I love
it. It takes me back to Noo Yawk, even though it's before my
time." Angela M. Rosati
