TOO MUCH FOR WORDS
Judi Somers, better
known to her millions of readers as Juno Ursa, has just completed
her 30th novel in the Race Parsec series. That same night, she runs
into her childhood friend Felix Varlden. Felix’s line of work is
biotechnology; he’s an eccentric, brilliant harbinger of the space
age. He discloses to Judi his mission for the government, a project
of the utmost secrecy.
When Felix tells Judi
he is creating a humanoid to send on an interstellar mission, she
commissions him to create one for her, the true-life Race she’s
loved for the last 20 years, yet could not find here on earth. She
realizes that Felix can make her fantasies come true, for they share
the singular talent to create — Judi on paper, Felix on his lab
slab.
Finally, the
superhuman – Leo – opens his eyes for the first time. His first
request is for a mirror. Judi falls passionately in love. But it
dwindles as he displays his unbearably perfect behavior over and
over. She finally snaps, after he throws away a $500 jacket because
it makes him look fat. Felix has been in love with Judi all these
years, but puts her happiness before his own. Convinced he’ll
never have her, knowing that her real-life Race is his complete
opposite, he gives way — but still fulfills her wish by delivering
the perfect hero to her door, in a selfless wish for her happiness.
While living with this
unbearable monster of perfection, she admits that it’s Felix she’d
always wanted and blurts out her love for him right there in front
of Leo, a blatant hint that his time has come. A few days later,
Felix bears the good tidings: Leo will be the humanoid astronaut
they’ll send into space, never to return to earth, leaving Felix
and Judi to live happily ever after.

TOO
MUCH FOR WORDS is what science fiction novelist Judi Somers gets
when she begs Felix, her old school chum turned brilliant scientist,
to translate her fictional hero into a life-like android. On paper,
Race Parsec is an interplanetary swashbuckling hero, the man against
whom she measures all other men. But for Felix, who's been in love
with Judi for years, creating her perfect mate is pure agony. But
Felix gets even when he delivers the man of Judi's dreams . . . or
does he? With nods to several SF writers, Diana Rubino's narrative
is a funny, entertaining peek at what happens when one woman
actually gets what she asked for. This is a refreshing departure
from Ms. Rubino's historical writing. -- Kelly Rae Cooper, Romantic
Times
"TOO MUCH FOR
WORDS is wonderfully humorous and witty. The interaction between
Felix, "Leo" and Judi is entertaining. The characters fit
perfectly together and I couldn't wait to see what would happen
next. There isn't a lull at all in the action and I couldn't put it
down. I found the plot unique and refreshing...Diana Rubino has
penned a thoroughly fun-filled read that will have you giggling out
loud. If you are looking for a lighthearted read, TOO MUCH FOR WORDS
is not to be missed." -- Carol Durfee, The Word on Romance, www.thewordonromance.com
"...an
entertaining tale so deftly told that one can almost believe these
events are happening right now in some busy American metropolis.
This book will have readers engaging in a bit of scientific
observation each time a man appears who looks to good to be true.
Despite the scientific setting, there is nothing formulaic or
predictable about Diana Rubino's bright, original storytelling. TOO
MUCH FOR WORDS is, quite simply, too good to miss!" --America
Online Romance Fiction Forum
"Ms. Rubino has
mixed the perfect proportions of realism, romance, and enough bad
science to be funny in TOO MUCH FOR WORDS. Throughout TOO MUCH FOR
WORDS, Ms. Rubino maintains a wonderful, Puckish sense of humor. Her
romantic pastiche of a science fiction novel even has a marvelous
epilogue which I refuse to discuss lest I act as a spoiler..."
--Steven Lopata, CompuServe Romance Reviews
"The characters
are endearing and the premise fresh and original...fantasy fans will
be thrilled with TOO MUCH FOR WORDS as Ms. Rubino takes us into the
exciting world of science and technology. Who wouldn't want a man
tailored just for her? But this author does a creditable job in
showing us about being careful what you ask for, it might not be
what you really want..." --Darlene Kendall, www.bitbooks.com
"...we
should all be so lucky to get a man who has great taste in wine,
music, food, and chocolate, who cooks, cleans, irons and loves
without tiring, right? We've all got that list somewhere, the one
that describes this guy. But Judi finds out that the perfect man is
a little harder to handle in reality. And Felix is there to help her
figure out what to do when perfection isn't what Judi has imagined
it to be. Diana Rubino's latest love story, TOO MUCH FOR WORDS, is a
fun exploration of the imperfection of love." --Writers Club
Romance Group on AOL
TOO MUCH FOR WORDS is delightfully funny, with an entertaining
premise and an amusing story line. Ms. Rubino's dialogue is witty
and lively, and her characters are well defined and sympathetic.
Short and sweet, it is tailor-made for an evening in, when you want
to escape into something light, but with enough romance to keep it
fun. And, it stays strong through the very end. --Astrid Kinn,
